 KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN OPENS IN PARIS;
 AMERICAN FAVORITE HITS WORLD GASTRONOMY CAPITAL
 LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Many Parisians got their first taste of a traditional American dish today, as the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Paris celebrated its grand opening.
 At the grand opening musicians played American-style "country" music and Parisian children were given stick-on goatee "beards" and string ties, reminiscent of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders.
 The launch of KFC in the world's gastronomy capital is taking place in a brand new $5-million restaurant, located in Paris' bustling Les Halles district. The restaurant is 434 square meters and seats 230 people. And in keeping with the Paris cafe tradition, it includes outdoor seating for 70.
 "We're thrilled to be able to offer KFC products in Paris," said Allan Huston, president of KFC-International. "Parisians love good food, and we think they'll enjoy every bit as much as the five million other hungry people we serve each day."
 The restaurant will serve a range of traditional KFC products, as well as a few distinctly French offerings. In addition to the Original Recipe chicken developed by Colonel Harland Sanders, the restaurant offers Hot & Spicy Chicken, Kentucky Nuggets (which can be dipped in a sauce Bernaise), french fries, cole slaw and salads. Desserts range from sorbet to chocolate mousse.
 To assist people unfamiliar with the KFC menu, printed menus will be available to customers upon entering the Paris restaurant, and extra staff members will be available to answer questions.
 KFC operates and franchises some 8,500 restaurants in 63 countries. Each year KFC restaurants serve over 1.7 billion meals. Last year, systemwide sales at KFC restaurants amounted to $6.2 billion.
