KENNER UNVEILS EXCITING NEW TOY OFFERINGS FOR 1992
NEW YORK, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- "What's new for 1992?" will be the

most frequently asked question at the 89th Annual American International Toy Fair. Bruce Stein, president of Kenner Products Inc., has all the right answers -- from movie and television licenses to classic favorites like Nerf, Baby Alive and Spirograph.
"Industry trends have dictated that consumers want value for the toys they purchase for their children. Value to the discriminating toy buyer is perceived in terms of price, play features, big ideas and lifestyle trends," Stein said today. "At Kenner, over 90 percent of our products are priced under $15. With our extensive product offerings for both girls and boys, we have a complete mix of fun, action and adventure."
So, Mr. Stein, what is new for 1992? Here's a review of Kenner Products' toy offerings:
 Boys' Toys
"With children losing interest in last year's flash-in-the-pan toy and video game offerings, we are faced with an opportunity to fill some potential toy voids for boys with a dynamic assortment of action figures, reaction vehicles, athletic toys and sports headliners," said Tom McGrath, Kenner's vice president of marketing for boys' toys.
-- Batman(R) Action Figures and Accessories: To coincide with the summer release of "Batman Returns," starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito, Kenner will introduce all-new versions of the Caped Crusader, as well as Catwoman, the Penguin and Robin. There will also be new action-activated electronic figures, a 15-inch-tall Deluxe Batman Figure, exciting action vehicles, lifelike role-playing sets and a Batman Command Center Playset. The Batman toy line is certain to be one of the toy industry's biggest hits of 1992!
-- Capital Critters(TM): Based on the new ABC prime-time Steven Bochco animated series, this toy line features a group of mice, rats and roaches who live under the White House. This is no ordinary group of vermin, however! Children will love the Critters because of their unique "squashable" quality. No matter how hard you squash them, they always return to their original form! It's a whole new way of playing with action figures!
-- Nerf(R): This year Nerf updates the classics, "blasts" the competition, puts a new "twist" on turbo action, and "screams" into '92 with exciting and innovative additions to its already hugely successful product line. Watch out for the Nerf Missile Launcher, Nerf Master Blaster and Pro Nerf!
-- Savage Mondo Blitzers(TM): Kids will love this "irreverent" line of mini-action figures on wheels. With names like Sewer Surfers, Skull Crunchers and Butt Kicker, the kids will be clamoring for these collectibles. Guaranteed to be the talk of the schoolyard in 1992!
-- Starting Lineup USA Basketball Team(R): A limited edition set of the greatest basketball team in history, featuring all ten NBA superstars first chosen for the 1992 Olympic Basketball Team, including Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Charles Barkley. A guaranteed collector's item for years to come.
-- Terminator 2 Action Figures/Accessories(TM): Arriving on the heels of the $200 million-grossing movie starring American boys' ultimate hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger. This toy line features "T-2" action figures (Techno-Punch, Battle Damage and Power Arm Terminator), accessories (Bio-Flesh Regenerator Playset and th ?Heavy Metal Cycle), and the Ultimate Terminator, a 13-inch talking version with light-up LED eyes. Hasta la vista, baby.
 Girls' Toys
"The challenge in marketing girls' toys for Kenner lies in the fact that our audience is fickle," says Ginger Kent, Kenner's vice president of marketing for girls' toys. "Girls like to play with dolls, but they are demanding more in the way of special features or, simply put, dolls that do more things. Since this notion has led to the success of such favorites as Baby Alive and Cupcakes, we believe that Kenner is on track for 1992 with expanded line offerings and some innovative ideas."
-- The World of Baby Alive(R): Happy 20th birthday, Baby Alive! With over nine million dolls sold since 1972, Kenner expands the Baby Alive line with a new Talking Baby Alive. She eats, drinks, potty trains and says seven different phrases. And, Baby Alive has a new companion -- Puppy Alive, the only plush puppy that eats and wets. Each doll comes complete with a line of accessories for easy changing and feeding.
-- Littlest Pet Shop(TM): Each of these adorable miniature pets has a magical action which brings it to life. The toy line includes Ready To Go Pets, Pet Presents Assortment, Cozy Home Pets Assortment and the Pet Shop Playset. Kids will want to collect them all!
-- Baby All Gone(TM): Little girls will love playing "mommy" with Baby All Gone, whose magical accessories allow them to feed and nurture their baby. Baby All Gone's magical cherry jar, spoon and bottle allow "Mommy" to feed her with no mess, over and over again!
-- Cupcakes(TM): Already popular sellers, these wonderful "sweet treats" magically transform from cupcakes into delightful mini-dolls. The 1992 line includes new dolls with exciting new "transformation" play patterns, such as Tropical Treat, Cotton Candy, Princess Parfaits, Gumball Girls, the Jam Pops Assortments as well as four Cupcakeland Playsets.
 Activity Offerings
-- EZ 2 DO(TM) Fashion Machine: This complete design center allows kids to create their own fabulous jewelry and fashion accessories. Make necklaces, earrings, barrettes and ornaments that are beautiful, fun and are "EZ 2 Do"!
-- Speedy Make(TM): Kids can make great tasting treats in minutes with these additions to Kenner's "Real Food" Toys. The Speedy Make Ice Pop Maker and Speedy Make Ice Cream Maker are fast, easy and fun!
-- Mega Spirograph(R): Spirograph, a family favorite for more than 25 years, is bigger and better than ever for 1992. The newest addition to the line, Mega Spirograph, allows kids to create larger, more visually dramatic geometric drawings.
-- Colorblaster(TM): In 1991, Kenner's Colorblaster introduced kids to the art of airbrushing. IN 1992, kids will have a "blast" with the new Colorblaster T-Master T-Shirt Design Set and the Colorblaster T- Master Stencil Assortment.
