KENJIRO NITTA NAMED PRESIDENT OF NEC USA, NEC INDUSTRIES, AND NEC FOUNDATION OF AMERICA

 MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenjiro Nitta, senior vice president of NEC Corporation, has been appointed president of NEC USA, Inc., NEC Industries, Inc. and NEC Foundation of America, succeeding Hisashi Kaneko who will assume new responsibilities with NEC Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: NIPNY) in Japan. NEC USA is a holding company established to foster business strategies common to NEC U.S. operations. NEC Industries specializes in various financial services to NEC's subsidiary companies and their customers. NEC Foundation of America supports programs with national reach and impact in the combined areas of science and technology education, and efforts to apply technology to assist people with disabilities.
 In addition to his new responsibilities, Mr. Nitta will also continue to serve as chairman and chief executive officer of NEC Technologies, a position he has held since July, 1991. NEC Technologies is a leading provider of personal computers and peripherals for the North American market.
 Mr. Nitta has had a long and distinguished career since joining NEC Corporation in 1961 as an engineer in the Control Engineering Division. He was soon promoted to chief engineer with the Information Processing Group where he developed Japan's first time sharing computer system. In 1983, Mr. Nitta became the general manager of systems engineering and was promoted to vice president of marketing and sales for information systems in 1987. Mr. Nitta earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Tokyo University.
