KEMPER FINANCIAL SERVICES OPENS NEW OFFICE IN MEXICO CITY
CHICAGO, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Kemper Financial Services, Inc. (KFS) today announced the establishment of an investment research office in Mexico City.
The opening of the Mexico City office, announced by Gordon Wilson, KFS executive vice president and director of international investments, is part of a broader effort to further enhance the company's international investment capabilities. Earlier, KFS moved David Linehan, an equity investment expert, to its Hong Kong office to oversee portfolio management and investment research activities in the Far East and Pacific Rim.
Kemper already has a London-based global fixed-income group, Kemper Investment Management Company Limited. Established in 1989, the office has a 10-person staff. In addition, two equity specialists are situated there, who cover companies in the U.K., continental Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
"The opening of a Mexico City office, in addition to our London and Hong Kong locations, positions Kemper in strategic areas around the world that will allow us to research and act on international business opportunities for all of our equity portfolios," said Wilson. "Employing geographic investment experts closer to the companies and markets that they cover reinforces our commitment to global expansion.
"In the coming years, we believe the amount of international assets under management for our mutual funds and institutional clients will increase significantly. We also believe that international investing will take on an even greater importance for our clients," said Stephen Timbers, KFS chief investment officer. "Therefore, we are committed to developing the very best global investment expertise."
Carolyn Schloss, a KFS vice president and equity expert, will head the Mexico office and cover Spain and emerging markets in Turkey, Greece and Pakistan.
Schloss joined KFS in 1985 as an associate analyst. In 1987, she was named a domestic analyst, and in 1988 her responsibilities broadened to include international companies. She also assists in the management of international portfolios for the geographic regions she covers. These portfolios include the Kemper International Fund, the Lumbermens foreign equity portfolio, the Growth Fund of Spain and Kemper Investors Fund.
Kemper Financial Services, Inc. is one of the nation's largest money managers. Together with its affiliates, KFS has more than $67 billion in assets under management. It is part of the investment services segment of Kemper Corporation, a nonoperating holding company with major subsidiaries in asset management, securities brokerage, life insurance, reinsurance, property-casualty insurance and risk management service.
