KEMPER CORPORATION SPONSORS CNBC'S NAFTA DEBATE

 LONG GROVE, Ill., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Kemper Corporation announced today its sponsorship of "The NAFTA Debate" on the national cable network CNBC. The one-hour debate, presented by U.S. News & World Report, will air on Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. EST.
 Sen. Bill Bradley (D-N.J.), Rep. Robert Matsui (D-Calif.) and Gov. Tommy Thompson (R-Wis.) will argue in favor of NAFTA; former presidential candidate and current television commentator Jesse Jackson, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) and Sen. Donald Riegle Jr. (D-Mich.) will represent the opposition. Steven Roberts, political editor of U.S. News & World Report, will act as moderator.
 "The passage of NAFTA represents an important first step in extending American economic leadership throughout the hemisphere," said David B. Mathis, chairman and chief executive officer of Kemper Corporation. "We are sponsoring this debate because we believe an examination of the issues will show how critical NAFTA is to our country's prosperity."
