KEMESS SOUTH GOLD-COPPER RESERVES PASS 250 MILLION TONS; FEASIBILITY WORK BEGINS

 KEMESS SOUTH GOLD-COPPER RESERVES PASS 250 MILLION TONS;
 FEASIBILITY WORK BEGINS
 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert G. Hunter, chairman of El Condor Resources Ltd. (Vancouver: ECN) announced updated mineral reserves for the Kemess South gold-copper deposit, north-central British Columbia.
 Based on systematic grid drilling on 330 foot centers at Kemess South, El Condor has calculated a mineral reserve of 252,000,000 tons grading 0.23 percent copper and 0.019 oz gold/ton (0.86 percent copper equivalent) at a cut-off grade of 0.40 percent copper equivalent. Metal content of this reserve is 1.2 billion pounds copper and 4.75 million ounces gold. El Condor is now planning an accelerated feasibility, engineering and permitting program for the Kemess Project.
 The Kemess South deposit is blanket shaped and remarkably continuous. It measures some 4600 feet east-west, 2000 feet north- south and is up to 800 feet thick. Its configuration is ideal for open pit mine development.

Exceptionally low stripping ratios and above average grades are available in the early years of mine life. The north, south and east limits of the deposit have been delineated. To the west, the deposit extends onto claims held by El Condor (100 percent) and claims held by Rio Algom Limited (100 percent - option).
 In addition, a phase one metallurgical testwork program has been completed on composite samples at Lakefield Research. Preliminary metallurgical results are excellent. Grinding of the low work index ore and standard flotation processes resulted in high recoveries of both gold and copper to a conventional copper concentrate. A detailed report on this work is expected shortly.
 Prefeasibility projections for the Kemess South deposit indicate that, at a production rate of 40,000 tons per day, average annual production would be in the order of 200,000 ounces gold and 58,000,000 pounds copper over a mine life in excess of 15 years. These projections compare very favorably with British Columbia's presently operating large-scale open pit mines.

 The Kemess Project comprises two adjacent mineral claim holdings known as Kemess South and Kemess North, which encompass 63 square miles. The claims cover a giant, multi-deposit porphyry gold-copper system. El Condor is operator of the entire project area and has a 60 percent interest in the Kemess South mineral claims and a 100 percent interest in the Kemess North mineral claims. St. Philips Resources is the company's 40 percent working interest joint venture partner in the Kemess South claims.
 At Kemess North, 44 drill holes have defined a mineral reserve of 128 million tons grading 0.19 percent copper and 0.011 oz gold/ton (0.57 percent copper equivalent) at a cut-off grade of 0.40 percent copper equivalent. The Kemess North deposit is open in all lateral directions. Additional deposit targets have been identified within the project area and these are now ready for drill testing.
