 KELSEY-HAYES SPONSORS VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE
 ROMULUS, Mich., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelsey-Hayes Group is

sponsoring a non-partisan voter registration drive involving its employees and communities in which it maintains operations. The drive is part of an overall campaign initiated by Varity Corporation's chairman, Victor Rice. According to John Utley, Kelsey-Hayes chairman, the company is working with its employees in more than a dozen plant communities across the United States to encourage and assist in voter registration and participation in this fall's election. As part of the registration drive, the company will sponsor a campaign carrying the banner: "Make a date with democracy -- register and vote."
"We, like many others in America, have been concerned by the lack of voter participation," Utley said. "We just want to do what we can to help turn the situation around. We strongly encourage other U.S. companies to sponsor similar voter registration programs for their employees and local communities."
Kelsey-Hayes kicked off its campaign to facilitate voter registration for employees at each location in September. To be eligible to vote in this November's election, U.S. citizens must register by early October.
Kelsey-Hayes is a major supplier of conventional brakes, anti-lock brake systems, electrical control devices and steel and aluminum wheels to the automotive industry worldwide. Kelsey-Hayes is a business of Varity Corporation (NYSE: VAT).
