KELSEY-HAYES POSTS GAINS IN LIGHT DUTY BRAKES SALES

ROMULUS, Mich., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelsey-Hayes posted a 27-percent increase in sales of foundation brakes and components in the first quarter of 1993 as compared with the same period last year, according to Jim Pruneski, president of the company's Light Duty Brakes and Components Group.
"We can attribute Kelsey-Hayes' continuing success in light duty brake sales to two factors," Pruneski said. "First, vehicle sales are up by about 18 percent -- and that, of course, has a direct impact on our bottom line. Second, Kelsey-Hayes continues to be the supplier of choice for foundation brake products and systems on today's hottest- selling cars and light trucks. You'll find our brakes on the new Chrysler LH cars, minivan and Jeep; the Ford Econoline van and F-150, F-250 and F-350 series trucks, to name a few."
The Kelsey-Hayes Light Duty Brakes and Components Group is one of the world's leading independent manufacturers of foundation brake products and systems, including integrated corner module assemblies, calipers, rotors, drums and knuckles.
The Kelsey-Hayes Group is a major supplier of conventional brakes, anti-lock brake systems and electrical control devices to the automotive industry worldwide. Hayes Wheels International, the world's largest manufacturer of steel and aluminum wheels, is an affiliate of Kelsey- Hayes. Kelsey-Hayes is a business of Varity Corporation (NYSE: VAT).
