KELSEY-HAYES AWARDED $12 MILLION CONTRACT TO SUPPLY NISSAN
 WITH ALUMINUM WHEELS
ROMULUS, Mich., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelsey-Hayes Group's Western Wheel operation has been awarded a $12 million contract to supply Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. with aluminum wheels, according to Brian Allenspach, president, Kelsey-Hayes North American Aluminum Wheels Business. Kelsey-Hayes will begin shipping aluminum wheels to Japan in the spring of 1993. The aluminum wheels will be manufactured in La Mirada, Calif., and shipped to Nissan's assembly plants in Japan.
This contract represents the first aluminum wheel business sourced by Nissan in which a U.S. supplier has been given design responsibility for wheel development.
"The business was the result of a dedicated effort on the part of Western Wheel personnel," said Mr. K. Terada, the international purchasing general manager at Nissan Motor Company. "During a short trial production period, Western Wheel exhibited the repeated effort required to meet Nissan's stringent production approval, systems inspection and pre-shipment parts inspection requirements."
