KEITHLEY WINS PRODUCT OF THE YEAR AWARD

CLEVELAND, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- A local electronic equipment manufacturer has received a prestigious award from an industry magazine for one of its new test and measurement products. The editors of "Electronic Products" magazine have named the Model 2001 Digital Multimeter, designed and built by Keithley Instruments, Inc. (AMEX: KEI), one of the five best products of 1992. Frank Egan, the publisher of "Electronic Products," will visit Keithley's headquarters in Solon on Jan. 29, to present the Product of the Year award to Frederick R. Hume, vice president of Keithley's Test Instrumentation group.
Keithley's digital multimeter was one of only five products chosen to receive the magazine's seventeenth annual award from the thousands of products introduced in 1992. The editors made their selections based on "significant advances in technology or its application, a decided innovation in design, or a substantial gain in price-performance." Other manufacturers of winning products included AMP Inc., Apex Microtechnology Corporation, Aptix Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Co. The winning products were profiled in the January 1993 issue of "Electronic Products."
The Model 2001 digital multimeter was designed to offer measurement integrity and speed comparable to instruments that cost more than twice as much. While digital multimeters are commonly used by scientists and engineers to measure the voltage, current or resistance values of electrical signals, the Model 2001 adds a variety of built-in functions that generally aren't available in general-purpose instruments of this type.
Keithley Instruments, Inc. is a leading single source of advanced hardware and software for test and measurement instrumentation and data acquisition and control applications of scientists and engineers worldwide. Its products and systems are found throughout the world in universities, industrial research laboratories, engineering development departments, quality control areas, and on production lines.
