KEENE TO PROPOSE SOLUTION TO ASBESTOS LITIGATION
Keene Corporation, one of numerous defendant companies in asbestos

litigation, will announce at a news briefing its proposals for a solution to the nation's asbestos litigation crisis -- a solution designed to:
-- Pay deserving sick people fairly and promptly.
-- Stop the practice that has paid lawyers 65 percent of the $12 billion spent to date on asbestos litigation.
-- Unclog the nation's courts where there are now 150,000 cases pending, with an estimated 200,000 additional cases on the horizon.
-- Help the economy by reversing a trend that has already bankrupted 16 companies with the loss of tens of thousands of American jobs.
Details of the proposal will be given at the press briefing, which is set for:
 DATE: Oct. 14, 1992
 TIME: 9 a.m. (breakfast at 8:45 a.m.)
 PLACE: Overseas Press Club
 3 West 51st St. (5th Ave.)

Available to answer questions at the briefing will be Martin Redish, a law professor at Northwestern University, and Lester Brickman, a law professor at Cardozo Law School.
