KCS ENERGY WAS TOP PERFORMING ENERGY STOCK IN 1992; LARGEST DOLLAR GAINER OF TOP NASDAQ STOCKS

 EDISON, N.J., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- KCS Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: KCSE) was the top performing energy stock in 1992 and showed the largest dollar gain among the top NASDAQ stocks with a minimum 1991 closing price of $3.00.
 According to Bloomberg Business News statisticians, KCS Energy, which rose nearly 400 percent during the year, was the No. 1 gainer among all U.S. energy companies with market capitalizations in excess of $100 million. KCS shares, which stood at 8-21/32 on Dec. 31, 1991 (adjusted for a three-for-two stock split) ended 1992 at 42-1/2.
 The National Association of Securities Dealers in Washington, DC also released its annual list of top performing NASDAQ/NMS stocks -- the 10 largest percentage gainers drawn from the large universe of companies traded over-the-counter with a minimum 1991 closing price of $3.
 KCS Energy's percentage gain placed it fifth on that list. Of all ten companies named, however, KCS showed the largest net change, or dollar gain, for the year.
 In an additional ranking, the Media General financial data service accorded KCS Energy the year's third best performer honors among all NASDAQ stocks with a minimum share price of $5 at the beginning of 1992.

 KCS Energy is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production, natural gas transportation, natural gas marketing and energy services with operations in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
