 KCS ENERGY COMPLETES FIRST INTERSTATE PIPELINE CONNECTION
 WITH TEXAS EASTERN
 HOUSTON, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- KCS Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: KCSE) announced today its natural gas transmission subsidiary has completed a strategic direct interconnect with an interstate pipeline in the central part of its mainline system.
 The 80,000 MMbtu per day interconnect was made in Montgomery County, Texas, north of Houston, between KCS Energy's 12-inch pipeline system and the 24-inch Texas Eastern Transmission pipeline that provides natural gas transmission services from Texas to Massachusetts.
 Harry Lee Stout, president of the KCS Energy subsidiary, Enercorp Gas Transmissions Systems, said the interconnect will provide additional delivery flexibility between the system and the other nine pipeline companies sharing interconnections as well as add an important source for system gas supplies. He said the interconnect will greatly increase KCS Energy's delivery capacity to major customers on its pipeline such as the Gulf States Utilities Company Lewis Creek generating station. KCS's north-south pipeline now has ten direct interstate and intrastate pipeline interconnects.
 KCS Energy is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production natural gas transportation, natural gas marketing and energy services with operations in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
