KAYE, SCHOLER TO CONTINUE REPRESENTING CLIENTS VIGOROUSLY
IN THE WAKE OF THE OTS LITIGATION SETTLEMENT ORDER
NEW YORK, NY, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul J. Curran, a member of the Executive Committee of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler, today issued the following statement on behalf of the firm in response to the Office of Thrift Supervision's issuance of an Order ending its litigation against the law firm:
"With the Office of Thrift Supervision's issuance of an Order of settlement of its litigation against us, Kaye, Scholer returns to directing 100% of our professional talent and energy to vigorous and effective representation of our clients.
"The terms of the Order settling the OTS lawsuit arising from our representation as litigation counsel to Lincoln Savings and Loan Association during the 1980s in no way compromise our ability to represent clients to the full extent of our professional capabilities.
"We want to make it unmistakably clear that nothing in our agreement to the Order should be construed as an admission of any improper conduct.
"We were fully prepared to defend vigorously our actions and the legal and ethical principles involved. However, the financial constraints that resulted from the OTS action made it impossible to pursue such protracted litigation and made it necessary to settle this matter promptly.
"Today's Order puts this matter behind us and enables us to continue to serve our clients' interests effectively. And that is precisely what we are doing," Mr. Curran concluded.
