KATRON SHIPS ET-32EM 32-BIT EISA BUSMASTER SOFTWARE-CONFIGURABLE ALL-IN-ONE ETHERNET ADAPTER

HOUSTON, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Katron Computers, Inc. (Houston) is shipping a new, high-performance Ethernet card with built-in adaptability to a variety of workstation and topology requirements. This is a bus-mastering card for 32-bit EISA bus systems; it avoids memory conflict problems by establishing direct, maximum-throughput communication with the system's CPU. It provides connections to all three Ethernet topologies, and software auto-configures it for the one in use. And it comes with drivers for all major network environments. The Katron ET-32EM 32-bit EISA busmaster software-configurable all-in- one Ethernet adapter is available for $345 (suggested U.S. resale at participating resellers; inquiries invited).
Software automatically configures an ET-32EM for 10Base-5 if a thick-coax Ethernet connection is at its AUI connector, for 10Base2 "Thinnet" if thin-coax Ethernet is at its BNC connector, or 10Base-T with unshielded twisted pair wiring at its RJ-45 connector. The software automatically selects an available interrupt (IRQ 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 or 15), I/O address and optional RPL remote boot PROM address. And it comes with drivers for NetWare ODI, NDIS, TCP/IP, PC- NFS, LAN Server, UNIX and Lantastic.
The ET-32EM is an enhanced EISA board, compatible both with original EISA implementations and with newer, faster-CPU EISA-bus systems.
An on-board 50 Ohm BNC terminator replaces troublesome external plugs. The UTP port automatically detects and corrects reverse pair polarity. LEDs monitor Link, Polarity, Transmit/Receive and Collision status. Jabber and SQE Test functions are built in.
