 KATHRYN THOMPSON RECEIVES MERIDIAN AWARD
 FALLBROOK, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Kathryn G. Thompson,

chairman and chief executive officer of Kathryn G. Thompson Development Company, has been selected to receive the 1992 Meridian Award by the Long Beach/Orange County Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA).
According to Mark Scott, principal at Mark Scott & Associates and chairman of the Meridian Award selection committee, Thompson is a leader and innovator within the building industry and has demonstrated her belief in the value of excellent landscape design and installation. The Meridian Award will be presented on Saturday, June 13 at the annual Beautification Awards Program held at the Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach.
"Thompson has given new significance to integrating landscape into the overall living and working environments of her projects throughout Southern California. Through her accomplishments, she has gained a reputation in the interrelated fields of planning, design, construction, marketing and finance," said Scott.
Thompson was inducted into the California Building Industry Foundation's Hall of Fame in 1991. That same year, Gov. Pete Wilson appointed her to the State Bar of California Board of Governors. Thompson's Irvine-based corporation is responsible for commercial as well as residential development projects. She orchestrated one of California's earliest and largest condominium conversions which contained 2,000 units. New apartment development, construction and marketing of thousands of units is another on-going venture. The corporation has also purchased, refurbished and sold eight apartment complexes and built 300 new fourplexes. Producing hundreds of new single family detached homes rounds out the development portfolio of the company.
A resident of Dana Point, Thompson was guest speaker at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, the California Real Estate Association and the USC School of Urban and Regional Planning among many others. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
