KARASTAN, POLO RALPH LAUREN PLAY BALL; SIGN AGREEMENT.
Under the agreement, Karastan will be responsible for the sales, distribution, sourcing and manufacturing of the new collection, while Ralph Lauren Home Collection will continue to be responsible for design and marketing.
"The strong appeal of the Ralph Lauren brand and image holds enormous untapped potential in the floor covering area," said Monte Thornton, president of Karastan. "We are thrilled by the opportunity to work with their creative team to develop a collection of broadloom carpets and area rugs that the consumer will find new and exciting."
The collection will debut at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., in spring 2000.
"This is an important move for Ralph Lauren Home Collection," said Ken Road, president of Ralph Lauren Home Collection. "Karastan is an ideal partner with a strong management team, exceptional sourcing and superior manufacturing capabilities that will allow us to offer a more complete range of luxury home furnishings."
