Offering the most advanced, state-of-the-art laser vision correction.

For Son Tran, the best part about having LASIK surgery was being able to see his five-year-old son clearly--without glasses--for the first time. The next best thing was being able to play basketball without worrying about breaking those glasses.

Tran is just one of many area residents who have dramatically improved their lives by having state-of-the-art laser vision correction (LVC) at Kanror Eye Institute & Laser Center in Sarasota. Tran chose LASIK--the most advanced LVC technique--which allows even people who are extremely nearsighted, farsighted or who have astigmatism to enjoy excellent vision without the burden of contact lenses or eyeglasses.

Kantor Eye Institute & Laser Center's medical director, Robert L. Kantor, M.D., F.A.C.S., performed Tran's surgery Tran said he was impressed by Dr. Kantor's experience and by the centers cutting-edge technology, including the FDA-approved VJSX excimer laser.

"We wanted to make sure things would be done right the first time," Tran says. "Our minds were soon put to ease."

The VISX excimer laser used for Tran's LVC is the preferred choice of most refractive surgeons because patients tend to be more comfortable and recover more quickly than those treated by other lasers. Most patients have clear vision within hours, and many return to the office--or to their favorite sport--the next day.

"The procedure took only about 10 to 15 minutes...and, amazingly enough, I was able to see clearly almost immediately," Tran says.

Dr. Kantor, the most experienced refractive surgeon in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties, has been practicing ophthalmology in Sarasota since 1972. He has performed more than 1,000 LASIK procedures, and is the area's only board-certified refractive surgeon.

To Tran, that experience has meant the freedom to romp with his son and enjoy his sport of body building without the constraints of eyeglasses.

"If you've come to depend on glasses or contact lenses for your sight, then LASIK is a good way to go," Tran says.

Although LVC is not covered by insurance, it is affordable--Kantor Eye Institute & Laser Center offers several payment plans, making better vision attainable today.
