KAMAN RECEIVES SEVERAL HUNDRED CUSTOMER INQUIRIES FOR K-MAX
BLOOMFIELD, Conn., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaman Corp. (NASDAQ: KAMNA) today announced that it received several hundred inquiries from potential customers for its new K-MAX helicopter at the annual Helicopter Association International (HAI) Heli-Expo '92 held in Las Vegas, Nev. last week.
"We are extremely pleased with both the number and seriousness of the inquiries about K-MAX, our new 'aerial truck,'" said Charles H. Kaman, chairman and chief executive officer of Kaman Corp. "This positive response was very encouraging to us that the K-MAX concept is viable in the marketplace. Our leasing program 'A Grand for a Grand' was also well received by potential customers," Kaman added.
K-MAX, Kaman's new commercial helicopter specifically designed for vertical lift applications, had its first public showing at HAI.
The inquiries Kaman received were from a wide range of potential customers equally divided among North American and international prospects. A survey of inquiries confirmed that potential customers would use K-MAX for a broad range of applications, from logging, fire fighting and construction, to seismic exploration, mineral/oil field development and high-altitude work. Specific applications included selective logging in forests nationwide and particularly where clear cut and ground access is not permitted, power line installation in the Arctic regions, lime spreading on lakes in Sweden to counteract acid rain, fire fighting in southern France, high altitude installation of astronomic equipment in Hawaii and construction of ski lifts in Europe.
Kaman announced at Heli-Expo '92 that prospective customers can obtain more information about K-MAX by calling the toll-free number, 1-800-AIR-TRUC, established to support the program. In addition, to accommodate the level of inquiries on K-MAX, the company has developed a computer data base for marketing and customer support.
