KAISER RESOURCES INC. NAMES VERHEY AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Resources Inc. (NASDAQ: KRSC) has named James F. Verhey as its new Chief Financial Officer.
 Verhey will be responsible for all aspects of the company's financial and accounting matters including the identification and negotiation of potential financing for current and future growth opportunities. In addition to the Eagle Mountain Landfill Project and a long-term lease of its water resources, Kaiser is currently developing a materials recycling facility and interim transfer station and a multiuse motorsports racing complex on a portion of its 1,175-acre Fontana-area property.
 "Jim is a veteran public-company CFO who will be a major contributor to Kaiser's future success," Kaiser Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Stoddard said. "His background and experience make him a tremendous asset."
 Verhey brings over 17 years of broad financial and general management experience to the company. Prior to joining Kaiser, he served as chief financial officer and treasurer for a Portland, Ore.- based public, geothermal company. He has held senior management positions, including president and chief executive officer, for numerous alternative energy companies including Mithryn Energy Corp. and Luz International Ltd.
 A certified public accountant, Verhey holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also a member of the American Arbitration Association.
 Kaiser Resources Inc. is an emerging environmental resources company pursuing projects that address critical issues in Southern California, including solid waste management, water resources, and property redevelopment.
