KAISER ELECTED TO HARPER GROUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 SAN FRANCISCO, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Harper Group Inc. (NASDAQ: HARG) announced that its shareholders have elected John M. Kaiser as a member of the company's board of directors. Shareholders also re-elected Frank J. Wezniak and Wesley J. Fastiff to the board.
 Kaiser, age 53, was with the Harper Group from 1962 to 1978. After founding Expeditors International of Washington, he served as president from 1979 to 1988. Fastiff, 60, has served as a director since 1971. He is president of Littler, Mendelson, Fastiff and Tichy, a San Francisco law firm. Wezniak, also 60, is president of Computer Identics, a manufacturer of bar code identification and data collection systems.
 The Harper Group Inc. is an international transportation services provider with 385 branches in 44 countries. Major subsidiaries include Circle Airfreight Corp., Circle Freight International, Harper Robinson & Co., Sekin Transport International, Max Gruenhut International and Harper Freight International.
