KAISER ALUMINUM INTRODUCES NON-LEAD-BASED MICRO-CHIP II SCREW MACHINE STOCK

 PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. today introduced a new, non-lead-based version of its alloy 2011 Micro-Chip II (TM) screw machine stock.
 The new product, alloy 2111 Micro-Chip "Lead-Free," was developed to provide machining characteristics similar to or better than 2011 Micro- Chip II while eliminating the lead content, except as a trace impurity which would not exceed 0.05 percent of the total weight.
 Micro-Chip "Lead-Free" will be produced at Tennalum, Kaiser Aluminum's Jackson, Tenn., rod and bar facility.
 Kaiser's Micro-Chip screw machine stock is used in a wide range of applications including aircraft fittings, automotive brake pistons, hydraulic components and other industrial uses.
 Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. is the operating subsidiary of Kaiser Aluminum Corp. (NYSE: KLU), which is majority-owned by MAXXAM Inc. (AMEX: MXM).
