K-III ACQUIRES AC-U-KWIK; CORPORATE AVIATION DIRECTORIES TO BE PART OF INTERTEC UNIT

 NEW YORK, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- William F. Reilly, chairman and CEO of K-III Communications Corporation, today announced that K-III has acquired AC-U-KWIK, a leading publisher of directories for corporate pilots and corporate flight departments. AC-U-KWIK will operate as part of Intertec Publishing, K-III's trade magazine publishing unit. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
 "This acquisition will enable K-III to expand its presence in this small but valuable niche," said Mr. Reilly. "K-III already has a strong presence in this market with Intertec's Aircraft Bluebook Price Digest, and AC-U-KWIK's directories solidify this position."
 AC-U-KWIK, which was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Omaha, Neb., publishes the following titles: Airport/FBO Directory, a pocket- sized guide listing all airports with jet runways; Navpak, a P.C.-based software program listing all airports, fixed-base operators (FBO's), limousine services and hotels; and International Book, a desktop-sized guide listing all jet airports and support services. Intertec's Aircraft Bluebook Price Digest is a quarterly publication that provides market valuations for new and used aircraft and helicopters as well as information on avionics, engines, overhaul costs, modifications and conversions and airworthiness directives.
 Intertec Publishing, which is one of the largest trade magazine publishing companies in the U.S., is headquartered in Overland Park, Kan. It publishes 27 magazines, three foreign language magazines, five newsletters, 10 directories/annuals, two show dailies and 260 technical books and pricing guides. Educational books, trade shows, seminars, postcard decks, databases, reprints, marketing research and list rentals are among its other services.
 K-III Communications is a diversified publishing, information and direct response company. Its properties include such well known publications as Seventeen and New York magazines, Weekly Reader, Daily Racing Form, and Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia.
