Justice with Jacobs: My Art Attack.

Byline: Gary Jacobs

Q I BOUGHT a picture on a US internet site for $1,500, paying on my credit card. It was described as a water-colour, but proved to be a print worth $50.

The seller has delayed reimbursing me and the credit-card company have ignored my letter seeking reimbursement from them. Should I forget it?

KS, Southampton

A NO! SUE the credit card company NOW! They will have to reimburse you as if they were the supplier as long as USA law gives you a valid claim which I am certain it does.

When you make a purchase over pounds 100, using a credit card, they have to accept responsibility for the failure of the seller to supply what was contracted for.

They can, of course, sue the seller and that way they get their money back, if they are lucky.
