Just Joan: My partner says I touch myself in my sleep.

Byline: Joan Burnie

Q I AM a 22-year-old female and have a very active sex life with my boyfriend of seven months.

There is one huge problem though, which is that when I fall asleep, my boyfriend says that I'm touching myself.

This is upsetting both of us and I don't know what to do. He says he can't cope with this, so how can I stop before it breaks us up?

A WHAT you have to appreciate is that you can't help any involuntary movements you might make while you are asleep and dreaming.

More to the point, your boyfriend has to accept it as well. I should think he's had a few erotic moments and unconsciously touched himself while he's snoozing.

It's just that you aren't sufficiently paranoid to stay awake waiting for him to do it. Once someone thinks they should have total control of your body 24/7, it's time to tell them goodnight and goodbye

Q I AM 23-year-old male virgin. I have never been able to get a girlfriend as I am shy and girls just ignore me.

But have feelings just like anyone else. sometimes see nice looking girls walking along the road and I really fancy speaking to them.

Have you any tips on how I can chat them up? The best line have come out with is: 'Can you please tell me the time?' which gets me nowhere.

A I'LL tell you one thing for a start - if you start propositioning strange women you happen to like the look of in the street, you'll find yourself reported to the police for harassment.

Believe me, it's not something any man should do. You have to begin seeing women as people and friends first and as potential partners second.

The advice, then, is to try to take up something where you'll meet new people of both sexes. A word with Breathing Space: 0800 838587, might also help you relax and become more sure of yourself
