There will be an eggstra edge to the sporting competition at the JJB Soccer Dome tomorrow.

The North Shields venue hosts the annual Easter Egg Cup mini-football tournament, an event which last year featured more than 165 children raising money for the Percy Hedley Northern Thunder power wheelchair football team.

The competition, organised by UK Sport Development, features 12 under-nine and under-10 teams and starts at 10am.

The Killingworth-based Percy Hedley School, three of whose wheelchair players are expected to be involved in the World Cup later this year, will give a skills display during the event.
