Junaid declared best athlete as MS Academy win overall Trophy.

PESHAWAR -- Promising athlete Junaid Khan declared best athlete while Muhammad Shah Academy University Town clinched the overall Trophy in the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar District Athletic Championship concluded here at Tartab Track of the Qayyum Sports Complex on Friday.

Junaid Khan grabbed four gold medals in 800m, 1500m, 3000m and 5000m while Zafar Iqbal Athletic Academy clinched the overall Trophy by securing 11 gold medal and seven silver medals and recorded 79 points.

Muhammad Shah Academy grabbed 38 points by winning 5 silver medals. A total of 145 athletes from eight different athletic academies comprising Agriculture Academy, Engineering Academy, Islamia College Academy, Muhammad Shah Academy, Zafar Iqbal Academy, Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Academy, Peshawar Academy and Taro Jaba Academy all across Peshawar District took part.

Besides Senior athletes Junior athletes also took part in 100m, 200m and 400m races. Saqib Khan, a promising athlete created new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa record in high jump when he cross a height of 6 feet and won gold medal, followed by Wahab Khan and Sultan Khan.

In the 100m Mehtab won gold medal, followed by Saqib Khan and Wahab while in the 200m Mehtab took gold medal and Qasim and Iftikhar won silver and bronze medal. In the 400m Qasim won gold medal, followed by Junaid and Mehtab Khan, in the 800m Junaid won gold, Junaid Shinwari won silver and Farid Khan took bronze medal, in the 1500m Junaid grabbed gold medal, followed by Usman Ullah and Junaid Shinwari, in the 3000m Junaid won gold medal, followed by Ikram and Paras Khan. In the 5000m, in long jump Wahjab won gold medal, Saqib won silver and Sultan got bronze medal, in the discus throw Zahid got gold medal, followed by Irfan and Sami Ullah, in shot put Zahid won gold medal, followed by Irfan and Abdul Wahab.

In the javelin throw Irfan won gold medal by making another record of clearing a distance of 62m, followed by Farid Khan while Paras Khan and Abdullah remained join third while Zafar Iqbal Academy won 4X100m relay, MS Academy won silver medal and Directorate.

At the end, the chief guest former World No 2 Mohib Ullah Khan, Director Sports PSB Coaching Centre, gave away trophies and certificates to the position holders.
