Jump! Music to Publish Piano Discovery System; Multimedia music tutorial system will join comprehensive line of music products.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--Jump! Music, a consumer music software publisher, today announced that it will acquire Piano Discovery System (PDS) from Creative Insights and ship the product by September 20th to major software retailers.

PDS is a new multimedia piano lesson software program bundled with a high-quality MIDI keyboard. Jump will add PDS to its branded line of Family Music Software, creating the most comprehensive music software line available.

"Piano Discovery is the music lesson solution that parents have been dreaming of for years," said Jan Mathews, vice president at Jump! Music. "Everyone wants to learn to read music and play piano in an easy, fun, convenient and affordable way. PDS is a true `plug and play' solution to that dream."

Comprehensive, Fun Way to Learn to Play Piano

Piano Discovery System's four-octave, MIDI piano keyboard with full-size keys, was specifically designed for use with a multimedia PC. The keyboard plugs into the computer's sound card with a single cable -- no power supply or additional interface equipment is needed.

The CD-ROM-based software, designed for ages 6 through adult, offers more than a full year of piano lessons with over 200 lessons, songs, and exercises, plus lots of fun musical activities. At under $200, the PDS also provides a level of convenience, affordability, and value which far exceeds traditional piano lessons.

Rich, Interactive Format

The inviting user interface, known as Discovery Island, allows the student instant access to any of six musical activity areas: The Schoolhouse, where basic lessons with live music tutors are taken; The Bungalow, where the student practices songs learned in the lessons; The Arcade, where the student improves musical skills via three different video games; The Performance Hall, where the student performs recitals accompanied by a symphony orchestra; The Jam Stage, where the student has instant access to cool musical grooves, riffs and sound effects, synchronized with a night-sky light show; and The Recording Studio, a fully-equipped, 16-track MIDI recorder.

Add On Lessons Available

PDS comes with a first full year of lessons and individual instruction on how to play more than 50 popular songs. Years 2 and 3 are available for $79.99 each.

Platforms and System Requirements

PDS has been designed to run on today's MPC computers, with a minimum system configuration of:

-- 486/33 MHz, 8 MB RAM, double speed CD-ROM drive, SVGA display

(640 x 480, 256 colors)

-- Windows 3.1 or higher, Windows 95 compatible

-- 10 MB available hard drive space (25 MB recommended)

-- 16-bit (or better) SoundBlaster compatible sound card

(Windows and MIDI compatible)
