Julie zooms in on prize.

A COVENTRY woman has beaten competition from thousands of scientists to win an international award for her research.

It is double delight for 27-year-old Julie Macpherson, from Earlsdon, as she has just become a Royal Society Research Fellow.

Julie is the only British person to have won the Molecular Imaging prize of a pounds 50,000 special microscope

Julie has been at the University of Warwick for nine years, first as a student then as a researcher.

She will pick up her prize at the Electrochemical Society Meeting in Honolulu on October 19, when she will also give a lecture on her research into molecules and the make-up of different surfaces.
