Judith Louise (Lynn) Mara (South Burlington, VT/Sugarloaf Key, FL)--.

Judith L. Mara, RN, MSN, AHAM, 64, passed from this life on Sept. 5, 2007, of complications following kidney failure, in Fletcher Allen Health Care. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on May 22, 1943, the daughter of Edward Leo Lynn and Margaret Pahler Lynn who predeceased her. She obtained her RN from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1963.

In 1965, she married Martin J. Mara, moving around the world in support of his career, while raising three wonderful children, and continuing to build her own career. She obtained her BS in Nursing from St. Joseph's College, Maine, her MSA from St. Michael's College, Vermont, as well as numerous other professional accomplishments. A graduate of the Snelling Center for Government, Vermont Leadership Institute, she continued to play an active role in her community and in her profession.

Judy was a licensed RN in Vermont, New York, Virginia, Arizona, Wisconsin and the Republic of Ireland. As part of her time at MCHV/Fletcher Allen, Judy worked as a staff nurse, director of central scheduling, and in community health improvement where she represented MCHV during the founding efforts of the Champlain Initiative. Judy retired from FAHC in 2005 from the position of Administrative Director of Patient Services. From that time until her demise, she was a senior health care management consultant with B.E. Smith, with assignments in both Arizona and Wisconsin. She continued to play an active role in the Vermont State Nurses' Association, and was elected to Sigma Theta Tao, the Honor Society of Nursing where she also served as an officer.

Judy's two passions were her grandchildren and travel. In 2006, Judy and Marty started the next phase of their lives by establishing their residence at their home in Sugarloaf Key and beginning reconstruction of the family camp in South Hero. She is survived by her husband, Martin Mara, her son, Kevin Mara and his wife Molly of Williston; daughter, Janet Mara of Montpelier; daughter, Jennifer Moore and her husband Michael Moore of South Burlington; her brothers, Edward Lynn Jr, and Stephen Lynn, both of Poughkeepsie; four grandchildren, Caty Mara, Patrick Mara, Ethan Moore and Eric Moore.
