Judge in pervert jail storm.
A JUDGE sparked another paedophile sentencing row yesterday after jailing a man who had sexually abused an 18 month old boy for just four years.
Judge Simon Hammond said Christopher Downes, 24, needed help for his "worrying problems".
The RAF serviceman admitted indecent assault - which carries a maximum 10 years in prison.
But Downes could be out on parole in two years with good behaviour.
The sentence was slammed by children's charities.
Kidscape director Michelle Elliott said: "Most people wouldn't think this is justice.
"People who do this sort of thing should be locked up for longer."
The row follows the controversial sentence on child abuser Craig Sweeney, 24, which could see the pervert released in only five years.
Downes, formerly based at Cottesmore, Leics, was also ordered to serve three years on licence.
Judge Hammond was unavailable for comment.
