Joys of sweet suburbia; THE TOP TV TOPICS with paddy shennan, the man with the remote.

THERE were some delicious lines in the first episode of the third series of Two Doors Down (BBC2, Monday). But the Burns Night supper served up by Eric (Alex Norton) and Beth (Arabella Weir) didn't look so appetising!

Sharp-tongued Cathy (Doon Mackichan), was intrigued by vegetarian Gordon (Kieran Hodgson), asking him: "Do you feel sorry for animals - or do you just like the attention?" But it was Eric and Colin (Jonathan Watson) who were involved in the best exchange.

Eric proudly told Gordon: "Scotland is renowned as being one of the most welcoming countries in the world foreigners to come to." To which Colin, not so helpfully, added: "Very few get attacked for no reason."
