Joy over top tourism awards.

TWO tourism organisations have been recognised for the outstanding quality of service at a national awards ceremony.

The Merseyside Partnership's website,, scooped a silver prize at the Excellence in England Awards 2003 held in London yesterday The Liverpool tourism centre was also named among the finalists in the category for best information centre. Anthony Goldstone, chairman of the North West Tourist Board, said: ``The Excellence in England Awards are widely recognised as the `Oscars'of the tourism industry.

``They celebrate success and promote the finest in English tourism.

``The winners and finalists of this year's awards are the champions in their field and we congratulate them on their success.''
