Journey to make day for Dunlop; NEWMARKET.

DAY JOURNEY looks to have sound claims in tonight's Snowdens' Marquees Novice Stakes (6.50) at Newmarket, writes Tom Goff.

Ed Dunlop's Dayjur colt is a decent sort in the making. He was second on his debut before disappointing in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he found things a bit tough. But he has been travelling very sweetly at home since then and should take plenty of beating here.

Dunlop can also enjoy juvenile success with Hataab, who makes his debut in the the EBF Maiden Stakes (4.25) at Ascot. This Woodman colt has shown plenty of ability on the gallops of late and can make a splash here.

The Ben Hanbury-trained Shannon Dore looks like the one to be on in the Woodcote Stud Maiden Stakes (2.15) at the Berkshire track. He chased home the very decent Elaflaak at Beverley last time and has taken that race well. He should gain swift compensation here.

Entwine can bounce back from an unlucky run at the Newmarket July meeting and register a success in the Rougham Handicap (7.50) at Headquarters. This filly never got a run at any stage when last in a rated stakes contest 17 days ago. She has come out of that well and can run a much better race here under Frankie Dettori.
