Journalist Peter is mourned.

LEGENDARY journalist Peter Steele died on Monday, aged 71.

Peter worked for many of Britain's leading papers, including the Daily Record, Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and London Evening Standard, in a colourful career.

He covered a number of major stories including the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Peter later set up a successful chain of freelance news agencies across Scotland, which he sold on his retirement five years ago after being diagnosed with colon cancer.

Married with grown-up children, he spent his remaining years between his homes in Spain and Cullen, Banffshire.

Peter's funeral will take place at 2.30pm on Friday, April 18, at Broadly Crematorium, near Buckie, Banffshire.
