Jonvic Remulla's supporters nabbed for 'vote buying' !-- -- Emmanuel Tupas (The Philippine Star) - May 6, 2019 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines Ten supporters of Cavite gubernatorial candidate Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla were arrested for allegedly engaging in vote buying in Bacoor on Saturday. Arrested were identified as Teresita Marjes,Irene Morales, Elsie Alano, Jayson Alab, Rex del Rosario, Jose de Leon, Gregorio Tamio, Michael Omedes, Joselino Villa and Jowel Sale.

They were allegedly caught distributing money to voters in Barangay Zapote 5 at around 6 p.m.

In a statement, Remulla admitted the suspects were his supporters, but denied they were engaging in vote buying. Remulla said they were his poll watchers receiving their allowances for the midterm elections.

Police said they seized from the suspects bundles of brown envelopes each containing P200, T-shirts marked with the names of Remulla and his running mate Vice Gov. Ramon "Jolo" Revilla, wristbands and a notebook containing the names of several persons.

Amado Corpus, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said a concerned citizen informed the police about the suspects' alleged illegal activities. Corpus said the suspects violated the Omnibus Election Code.
