Jones salutes Aherne-Evans.

Mark Jones paid tribute to former Cardiff City player Kevin Aherne-Evans after Carmarthen Town's shock Vauxhall MasterFit Welsh Premier League win at Llanelli in midweek. Carmarthen won 2-0 thanks to goals from Danny Thomas, another ex-Bluebirds player, and Mattie Davies, while Cardiff-based Jones picked out Aherne-Evans, saying: 'Kevin was outstanding. He dropped back into defence when we needed him to and did everything asked of him.'

Carmarthen's victory at Stebonheath was their first Welsh Premier win of the season and tomorrow they are at home to Welshpool Town. They welcome back Gary Lloyd after suspension, but will be without captain Rhodri Jones, taken to hospital with a facial injury sustained at Llanelli, and Nathan Cotterall, who was sent off for a reckless tackle.

Aberystwyth Town entertain Haverfordwest County in the only Welsh Premier match tonight, while there are only three tomorrow because many of the teams are in Welsh Cup action.

Carmarthen entertain Welshpool, Caersws are at home to TNS and Cwmbran Town trek to North Wales for their clash with Rhyl.
