A BLOOD cancer charity is telling people in Middlesbrough they are "almost unique" and urging them to use that to help save lives.
Delete Blood Cancer UK says that each person shares a potentially lifesaving link with just one or two other people in the population, but that having the same tissue type means you could help save a life by donating blood stem cells which could cure a blood cancer - and that they could do the same for you.
'ere are currently more than 100 people in Middlesbrough registered with the charity to be on standby to donate some of their blood stem cells to someone who needs them to survive. But they say many more people from the town are eligible to register.
You can register in ve minutes online and request a cheek swab kit that will enable you to do your own tissue test and become a potential donor. See www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk.
