John continues to curry favour; PERRY BARR.

A PUB landlord was left with a red hot dilemma after his biking hero Brent "the Afterburner" Werner quit the Birmingham Brummies speedway team. For Seventh Trap boss John Genda had only just created the extra hot Afterburner curry in Werner's honour at his Perry Barr pub.

"I couldn't believe when I heard Brent had left the Brummies last week," said John.

"I know he has not been doing that well on the track but the Afterburner curry has been selling really well.

"I'm not sure whether it was because of him or because speedway fans wanted to try the hottest thing on the menu."

Californian Warner, the Brummies' captain, quit the club after a loss of form and "falling out of love" with the high octane sport.

His decision left John with the problem of whether to pull the Afterburner from his menu. But he decided to keep serving it up with the backing of Werner's former teammates.

"We have had a few of the riders over here trying out the curry," said John.

"That is why I am keeping the curry on the menu. If they miss their old captain they can pop over for and reminisce over the only Afterburner left in Perry Barr."
