Joe Coors to run for Colorado House seat.

Joe Coors, age 70, founder of the CoorsTek ceramics company, is running for Congress as a Republican in the state's 7th District. Mr. Coors is challenging Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter, a third term incumbent.

The Republican National Committee has designated Mr. Coors one of its "Young Gun" candidates, indicating that RNC feels he has a good chance of success, and that he will be alloted party funds.

Coors family members have donated more than $40,000 of his $241,000 in itemized contributions.

Mr. Coors has launched a series of radio and TV ads, with the message "I am not a beer."

Mr. Coors' younger brother Pete Coors, current chairman of the Molson Coors Brewing Co., made an unsuccessful run for the U.S. Senate in 2004.
