Joe's five-star performance; Letters.

FOR the first time I recently visited the hugely impressive Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle to see 26-yearold Joe McElderry from South Shields star in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

In this magical musical Joe (fittingly, his real name is Joseph) gave a particularly polished performance to delight a packed audience.

Newcastle saw the end of Joe's 2017 tour, where he received fivestar reviews at many towns and cities throughout the country.

After hitting the heights to win the sixth series of ITV's X Factor programme in 2009, Joseph is his first major theatrical role. This level-headed young man, who has a superb singing voice, is a major 'export' from the North East, of whom it can be very proud.

After having a well earned break at his South Shields home, and maybe a short holiday, Joe rejoins the show's record breaking run. His new year commences at the Drury Lane theatre in London this month.

All best wishes, Joe, and here's hoping that throughout 2018, you further confirm your successful theatrical debut.
