Jobseeker alleges rape by businessman.

Sharjah: Police are on the lookout for a businessman following a woman's complaint that she had been raped by a man who victimised her after calling her for a job interview.

The incident took place at the company premises of the suspect, police said yesterday.

A police source told Gulf News on Wednesday that a woman lodged a complaint stating that she was raped by a man whom she met after reading an advertisement posted on a website offering a job in his company.

The young Indian national told police that she called the phone number mentioned in the advertisement and got in touch with the businessman, also an Indian. The woman said that the man claimed in his advertisement that he owned a company and was looking for a secretary and later scheduled an interview at Sharjah free zone.

The woman told police that she went to the free zone company on Tuesday. She said the businessman sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

The woman reported the matter to police in Sharjah the same day. Medical reports conducted by the police confirmed the rape.

Police said the woman provided a description of her attacker and the details were posted on the internet to aid their search.

Police said the primary investigation proved that the company name posted on the internet was fake. "People especially women should not trust any one and that woman was supposed to check about the name of the company and she should go with family members or friends but she should not go by herself," police said.
