Joan Gerner.

Joan Gerner (photo) has been promoted to vice president of Tishman Construction Corporation.

Gerner joined Tishman in 1981 as a project manager assigned to 40 East 61st Street, a mixed-use luxury condominium/medical office building. Since then, she has served as project manager on several New York projects, including the Kingsley, a 40-story luxury condominium apartment tower; Astor Terrace, a 455,000 square-foot townhouse and condominium apartment tower; and the 450,000 square-foot East Parking Garage at JFK International Airport, which is part of the JFK redevelopment program.

Currently, Gerner is serving as project manager for the renovation and expansion of the 130-year-old New Haven City Hall in Connecticut, a national historic landmark. She is also actively involved in pursuing new business in the New York metropolitan area and promoting Tishman's wide range of construction services, including construction management, project management, owner's representation and consulting, for base building construction as well as interiors fit-out.

Prior to joining Tishman, Gerner was a construction engineer/architect for the General Services Administration, and before that she was a business planning researcher for Lever Brothers Co., both located in Manhattan.

Gerner received a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture degree, both from The City College of New York. She is a member of the Mayor's (New York City) Construction Advisory Committee, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Professional Women in Construction. Additionally, Gerner serves on the Board of Directors of Sienna Village at Wayne, Inc. (a retirement community in Wayne, New Jersey), and is an appointed fellow of The New York Municipal Art Society and vice president and board member of The Douglaston/Little Neck Historical Society.
