Jet training; yourLETTERS.

WE should all be indebted to DW Pritchard of the Valley Aviation Society (Letters April 7) for telling us that, despite Germany having mountains and valleys of its own, the Luftwaffe does all its training in the USA. He mentioned Texas and New Mexico.

Now, quite obviously, the semi-desert States of the US Southwest are much more like Afghanistan than verdant Meirionnydd; so if the Luftwaffe can go all that way to train its pilots why can't the RAF do the same, especially as John Bull and Uncle Sam are such good buddies? The truth is that the German government has more concern for its citizens than the UK government has for us. Maybe we Welsh aren't even regarded as full citizens, for England seems to be spared incessant low flying. Why the difference in treatment? Royston Jones, Abergynolwyn Tywyn Gwynedd
