Jesus tomb repairs first in 2000yrs WORK to restore the Tomb of Jesus - the site where Christ is said to have been crucified, buried and resurrected - has begun in Jerusalem.
The repairs at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are the first in two centuries and will reinforce and conserve the structure.
Pilgrims will be able to continue visiting the site while the work is completed. It is expected to last up to a year.
Clerics from the three denominations who oversee the church - Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Armenian - shook hands in a show of unity next to scaffolding, with work to begin in about a week.
