Jenson Button's girlfriend safe after Japan's devastating earthquake.

London, March 12 (ANI): Formula One champion Jenson Button's girlfriend Jessica Michibata was in Tokyo when Japan was hit with a devastating earthquake yesterday.

The racing driver resorted to sending the 26-year-old model messages over Twitter when his attempts to reach her by phone failed.

Michibata, who was in a basement on a photoshoot at the time of the quake, is safe and sound and has been updating her friends across the world on the social networking site.

"I'm ok everyone, thank you for worrying about me. it was a scary stuff but I'm fine now!," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

She told followers: "I was in a basement studio. Had to run the stairs so fast 2 get out of the building!"

Button, 31, is in Barcelona doing training with McLaren at the Circuit de Catalunya.

He sent messages to Michibata, who he has been dating for over two years, on Twitter pleading with her to check her private message inbox.

After finally hearing from his girlfriend, the sportsman tweeted: "My lady, friends and family are well just a little shaken."(ANI)
