Jenny Craig opens 7 centers in CT through CB Commercial.

Jenny Craig, Inc., one of the largest weight loss service companies in the industry, entered the Connecticut market for the first time with the simulataneous opening of seven weight loss centers. Targeting Hartford and New Haven counties, the centers, each averaging 2,700 square feet, began opening in Glastonbury, West Hartford, Newington, Orange, Wallingford and Hamden on February 17. An additional store in Bristol will open in the near future.

Peter Corbett and Tim McNamara, retail leasing specialists with CB Commercial Real Estate Group, Inc., recently completed negotiations for the seven locations. The search for suitable sites in Connecticut actually started in 1988, but according to the CB Commercial leasing team, the scarcity of properties meeting Jenny Craig's criteria coupled with high rental prices, delayed the company's entrance in the market.

"Jenny Craig has a very detailed, clearly focused spec sheet," McNamara said. "Last August we presented 30 high quality locations throughout Connecticut to Jenny Craig's national real estate executives. All locations met the corporation's general specifications and were presented with a comprehensive analysis."
