(TAP) - A woman is missing after being washed away by the waters of the Bjarr wadi in the delegation of Jendouba North while her two companions were rescued on Thursday evening, TAP learned from regional director of civil protection, Captain Mounir Riyabi.

The missing woman was accompanied by two members of her family in a car that was immobilised by the flood waters of the wadi at the level of National Road 17 linking Jendouba to Fernana, the regional official said.

The civil protection units are continuing their search to find the woman and clear the vehicle, he added.

The accident site is a relief road built by a contracting company as part of the implementation of bridge works in the wadi.

Riyabi reported that a number of residents of Wadi Ghrib locality, in Fernana's delegation, were evacuated following the wadi flood.

The Governor, also in his capacity as Chairman of the Regional Commission for Disaster Prevention and Relief, called on Thursday afternoon on citizens, including those living near wadis and waterways, to take the necessary precautions.
