Byline: Peter Bacon

Somewhere Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/ Jack DeJohnette JARRETT, Peacock and DeJohnette started out 30 years ago playing in this band the music that its title suggests.

Some 20 years in they turned their attentions to original material and a freer interaction outside of the standard repertoire.

Here there are some great, evergreen tunes - Solar, Stars Fell On Alabama, Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea, Somewhere, Tonight, and I Thought About You. But there are also two pieces - Deep Space which leads into Solar, and Everywhere, which leads on from Somewhere - which are like Jarrett solo improvisations expanded to take in three players.

There are many standards trio albums you can enjoy from the last 30 years, so why invest in another? Well, because they are all different and while you might develop personal preferences for one over another, they are all bursting with musical riches.
