Jazz, Italian style Jazz, Italian style.
The 10th anniversary of the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival has already seen some great performances from big names, and this weekend there are more to come, with James Morrison and Jason Mraz. But in between, jazz lovers have been treated to sounds with an Italian flavour kicking off each night of the Jazz Garden this week.
Tonight sees the final night of the free concerts at Al Badia with Danilo Rea's solo piano session. The Italian follows Nicola Conte, Gaetano Partipilo, Alice Ricciardi, Mezzotono and Mannutza/Ionata, all of whom played under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in the UAE.
"Italian jazz has great tradition that has accompanied the most remarkable moments of our history, from post-war to modern days," Italian Ambassador to the UAE Giorgio Starace said. "We are very happy to bring some of the amazing Italian talents of this music here to Dubai."
"We are very proud of the line-up we put together with the help of Suoni Italiani and New Age productions, and the support of UBS Bank, Salini Costruzioni Dubai and Puglia Sounds," added Alessandra Priante, the Cultural Attache' for the Italian Embassies in the Gulf Region.
